Ever travelled to Mexico with a criminal record in Canada for drug trafiking for which you served prison time?

My hubby was charged 10 years ago for traffiking in canada, he served 6 months in prision, but he has since been pardoned. We would like to take the family in a vacation to Mexico, but we are worried he will not be allowed to enter. We tried to go to the US after his pardon was granted, as we were told we could travel to the US after the pardon was granted as long as he had never tried to go the states before. However, we were turned away at the airport. I would like to avoid this happening again! Help please - anyone with experience travelling to Mexico with a criminal record please reply!
