Five or six string b help?

im unsure whether to play a five or a 6 string. the real issue is that in my music i tend to travel all the way from low C (on a five string) to triple high G (12th fret on the ). im afraid that the 6 string will have strings too close together when i do more jazz and funk stuff, slapping/popping etc. then i look at my clical music and i see 2/3 ledger lines above the staff. so please help and give a good reason
