Is there a difference between boxing gloves and kickboxing gloves?

I'm taking a kickboxing cl. It's light sparring most of the time. We were told we could buy our own gloves since the school ones smell bad. While I was looking them up online, it looked like boxing gloves were different from kickboxing gloves. Is there a difference? Can I use boxing gloves for a kickboxing cl?
